…I hope that she would be thankful.

Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend and I am one thankful lady!  I have many things to give thanks for and I feel extremely content with my life.  There is one area on improvement that I can think of, though.  I need to be thankful every day, not just on Thanksgiving.

It is easy to get caught up in thinking about things that we want or to dream about how our lives could be different.  It is healthy to look ahead and have goals, but I also think it is important to remember to stay grounded and be happy in the here and now.  If we get too caught up in thinking what we want to be doing in five years and forget to be happy with today, who’s to say when we reach our five year goal that we won’t enjoy it because we’ll be thinking about where we want to get to next?  My point is that we should all take time each day to reflect on where we are in life and find something to be grateful for.

I am thankful that I have a wonderful husband and family (including my new “in-law” family that I have officially had now for two years).  We have a great dog, who yes, has some behavioral issues sometimes, but who also brings us so much joy and love.  I love our town–we are nestled between big cities and farm/wine country.  I have amazing friends that I don’t get to see that often, but when we do see each other it is so much sweeter.  I am happy that I have surrounded myself with people who have phenomenal senses of humor.  I am so thankful that my parents raised me with love and took the time to teach me the things that you can’t learn in school.  I am happy that my husband and I can travel to see my family and friends back home in Arizona at least once a year.

I could really go on forever and get to the small stuff, like the way I am thankful for the person who invented deodorant, but I won’t because I think you get the picture.

Thanks for taking the time to see what I am thankful for.  Happy Thanksgiving!  What are you grateful for?
